ruthless brows, be gone

Having a bad eyebrow day? Not anymore, use these simple steps and easy tips, and you will have the best eyebrows you ever had.

So first of all, you should always have a clean face when applying makeup, even if it's just your brows. After you have a clean and fresh face you can get started.
Eyebrows shape the whole face, so you want to have nice ones even if you're just going to the store. We don't want eyebrows that are too dark or too light, or eyebrows that are too thin or too thick, so keep them natural looking! When tweezing or waxing always stay with your natural arch, you don't want to over pluck or wax, because then they will be way too thin, unless you have naturally thin eyebrows. Try keeping them clean, and tweezed. Doing this once a month should be good, but if your hairs grow faster, do it whenever they grow in too much. I do not suggest shaving, only because the hairs grow in much faster, and its much more upkeep than tweezing or waxing, but whatever you prefer! You can also trim your brow hairs if they're too long or curly (like mine haha)

I picked up a new brow kit today, and it's much better than what I was using before, even though what I was using before was effective, this is much more effective. I bought the "wet n wild Ultimate Brow Kit" it was priced around 6 bucks at Zellers. My color is "963 Ash Brown" - A pretty good match.

In the kit, you get 2 brow colors, I use the middle one. And a wax to hold the eyebrow colors and your hairs.

You get baby tweezers!

And a mini angled brush, I usually use a angled brush with a longer handle, but for the sake of this tutorial, I used the brush they provided, it works just as well, just a little harder to handle.

So start of with a clean face:
As you can see, my brows are way too light, and kind of patchy, so I choose to fill them in.
I take the first color, or the lightest brown in the kit, with the angled brush the kit provides.

Then I start filling them in, going with the grain so to speak, I go the way my hairs grow, so it looks most natural, and I use small strokes, make sure not to put a lot of powder on the brush because it's like eyeshadow, it gives you fallout on your face. So in small strokes, fill in your brows. (excuse my hand for being dirty haha)
Then taking the clear wax to set the brows, use the same brush and do the same thing, it doesn't matter if the wax gets brown, because you're just putting it over top of the brown powder anyway. This locks in the hairs and the color.

As you can see, my eyebrows look completely different and much better than before. They are fuller and have more shape, and shape my face much better than eyebrows that were too light and patchy. Also my hair is dark brown now, so this color works the best for me. Remember, when you have lighter hair you want to go 3 shades darker than your hair, and darker you want to go 3 shades lighter*

 A cheap alternative:
This makeup brush was fairly cheap, you can look around at the drugstore for angled brushes, prices range from 5-20 bucks. This one was from Wal-mart and was in a kit with 4 other brushes for 20 bucks, look for good deals like that, for brows this kind of brush is the best.

Using an eyeshadow works just as well as the brow powder I have. If your looking for a different alternative use a brown eyeshadow or whatever color you need instead of buying the powder, just use the same techniques.

Hopefully these tips and tricks helped. Stay tuned for my next posting!
